St. Alban’s Youth Ministry

Youth at St. Alban’s are involved in all kinds of activities and ministries. They’re essential members of our church, and we encourage young people to be involved in every aspect of parish life.

Many of our teenagers serve at the altar regularly as part of our acolyte corps; others serve regularly as lectors, on lay committees, and as volunteers for outreach programs.

Like all teenagers, they are pulled in many directions … balancing the demands of school, sports, extracurricular activities, and preparing for college and the future. They’re strong and wise, funny and irreverent, spirited and intelligent — and they remain active, enthusiastic, and visible members of our parish family.

St. Alban’s Youth Ministry hosts a variety of activities for youth from 6th to 12th grade. Typically, we have two major events, meetings, or outreach activities per month, usually on the first and third Sundays of each month from September through June.

We host two youth groups, for junior high-age (6th to 8th grade) and high-schoolers (9th to 12th grade) that meet during our regular meetings, usually once a month.

You’re invited to be a part of the fun!

Father Paul, Associate Rector, serves as facilitator and primary organizer of Youth Ministry activities. A group of dedicated lay volunteers help to make this active program continue.

Mission to Hurley

The Youth Group is mission-focused, remembering that Christ commanded us to help others in need.  A huge part of our mission effort focuses on our annual mission effort in Hurley, Virginia each July.

This is a week-long immersive mission experience wherein we partner with a local outreach agency to help with repairs and light construction projects. Throughout the year, we host a number of popular fundraisers which serve to raise money to make the journey possible, and also help to keep the formative annual mission trip in the forefront of parishioners’ minds.
